We removed the original old Michelin ACS tyre from my Lambretta LD this morning, only to find this well-patched, bright red Englebert inner tube inside.
Englebert are an old brand of car tyre, known for their use in racing by the likes of Ferrari and Lancia in their day.
Who knew they did something for the humble little Lambretta too, hey?
So how many of you have a Bertone-designed Lambretta dl/ Grand Prix scooter or one of its derivatives? And do you really know everything about this classic Italian model?Continue reading
Back in 2016 we speculated that Bajaj Auto of India were to bring back their popular Chetak scooter to the market. It seems we were partially correct…Continue reading
It’s all about the numbers. The 50th anniversary of the Vespa 50 Special; 50 years since the Lambretta dl/Grand Prix was launched; we’ve got a new 225, a 180Continue reading
As stated in the latest edition of ScooterNova magazine itself, to compliment the review of the edition 215 that has just been published we have added this brief online gallery.
With most of the 100 scooters entered exhibited on the day there simply wasn’t the space in the magazine to show them all, so here are some of the photos we couldn’t fit in to the pages. You’ll find more images on the SLUK website too. As with all the running around and organising of the event on the day neither Iggy nor myself actually managed to capture every single scooter there on film (or rather the digital equivalent!).
Thanks again to all those who exhibited scooters, attended the event and helped out with its smooth running. The feedback from exhibitors, visitors and traders alike is that this event was up there with the best of them and everyone had a great day out. Sorted.
2019 marks the 50th anniversary of the Bertone-designed Lambretta Grand Prix being launched. It also marks 50 years of Ray Kemp working with Lambrettas, although Ray possibly won’t thank us for reminding him of that fact. Continue reading
Sadly, at some time during the night of Sunday 21 April, our friends at Cornwall Scooter Centre were burgled with six classic scooters part of the haul that thieves got away with.
In what the police have suggested looks like an organised gang were behind, the shop in Bodmin had six scooters stolen belonging to various customers. These were:
- Vespa T5 Millennium in pearlescent white, limited edition number 41 of 400 made
- 1967 Vespa 150 Sprint with a brand new Malossi 225cc kit built on new Pinasco engine casings, new wiring loom and fuel tank that was a 10th Wedding Anniversary present
- Lambretta SX150, white with a newly built RT195 with BGM Clubman exhaust
- Spanish Lambretta Li white/purple, modified to take GP panelwork
- Vespa P125X blue with new Polini 177 kit, black crash bars and several mirrors
- Vespa 150 Super, white with dodgy floor and stand
At the time of writing it looks like the thieves also took cash from the shop’s safe but appear to have left tools and spare parts untouched.
Please keep your eyes and ears open for anything that may be offered for sale, whether complete scooters or parts and if you have any information of these scooter thieves please inform Bodmin Police or Cornwall Scooter Centre (01208 72966).
The same applies if you hear of anyone receiving stolen goods or trying to move them on. Remember, as much as we all despise such thieving scumbags, such activities are only attractive to them if they can subsequently sell their stolen goods onwards. These scooters need to become as ‘hot’ as possible and if there is one good thing to say about social media in the 21st century, it’s that we can all come together to make things like this happen.
This Sunday we’ll be riding the lovely Fosse Way to Coventry for the 2019 VMSC’s scooter extravaganza. ScooterNova riders have entered our scooters here over the years and this year is no exception.
ScooterNova magazine will also be available from our stall at the show so come and say hello and get your ScooterNova fix! See you in Cov….
