Return of Django? Peugeot scooter launch in Milan

Peugeot Motorcycles went back to their scooter roots in Milan and announced the launch of their new Django scooter to the public, adding that they did make a few scooters back in the 1960s by displaying an old S57 scooter too.

The Django features plastic panelwork around a tubular steel frame and four versions will be available from sports to sophisticated, determined by their finish and accessories. Engines will be 50cc, 125cc and 150cc automatics.

Overall – aesthetically at least – we have to admit it is quite an eye-catching scooter. Whereas most companies jumping aboard the ‘vintage’ bandwagon seem to hit on a standard cliché mix of modern and retro, to offer scooters that all kind of lookalike after a while, the Django here seems to have a more specifically designed look, offering 1950s styling without being over the top.

Unfortunately I can’t see the engines being powerful enough to tempt us here, which is probably good as plastic panels are never going to last as long metal ones either… shame though…
