Isle of Wight Ferry discount – do they think we’re stupid?

IOW2015Final For a number of years now, the main organisers of the Isle of Wight Scooter Rally, VFM, have negotiated a discounted ferry crossing via the Red Funnel ferry company. A fine selection of Lambretta Series 1 scooters in Ryde, Isle of Wight, August 2012.

A fine selection of Lambretta Series 1 scooters in Ryde, Isle of Wight, August 2012.

There’s no doubting that in recent years the older Lambrettas have grown in popularity. Whether this is because we’re all getting older and our tastes change, or the market has dictated things, I’m not sure. “The market” I hear you cry… Yes, maybe…

Scooters Rallies 2014 – Great Britain & abroad

A number of you have been asking about scooter rally dates for 2014, and while we published the BSRA dates back in October, we thought we’d offer a new list with a few other scooter rallies and related events you may find interesting. We have now moved it to a new page for you.

Scooter Rallies 2014 – BSRA, VFM, SWSC, LCGB, SCSW, Scottish No1s Dates

At the Bridlington Trade & Custom Show this weekend the BSRA (British Scooter Riders Association) got together to discus dates for British scooter rallies during 2014.

RALLIES UP DATE HERE and IOW UPDATE HERE

It was good to see a new venue for 2014 at Newark (30 years since the last rally there) but there were no real surprises elsewhere, which is a shame as some venues / towns are certainly getting a bit predictable. Anyway, here is the list of National Scooter Rallies for 2014.

2-5 May Day Bank Holiday – Tenby (Pembrokeshire, Wales)

23-26 May Bank Holiday – Kelso (Scottish Borders, Scotland)

UPDATE JANUARY 2014

We have published an updated list of rallies and events here, together with useful web links too.

Isle of Wight Scooter Rally 2014

Contrary to what a taxi driver in Sandown may have told you, or any rumours you may have read on Facebook pages or internet forums, spread by armchair scooterists who have nothing better to do than live their life through a USB port, there are no plans to abandon the Isle of Wight as a scooter rally venue in 2014.

Various meetings are in the pipeline and we can confirm that plans for next year’s August Bank Holiday are already under way. Once again the rally will be based around Ryde with the camp site at Smallbrook Stadium (which following on from the recent improvements, has planning in for further works to be carried out over the closed season, including hopefully by next summer a new shower and changing area). We will of course be publishing any news and further information in Scootering magazine, on the VFM website and in the BSRA pages as it happens, so as the old saying goes; watch this space!
