The Isle of Wight Scooter Rally – it’s changing

For 2014 the Isle of Wight Scooter rally will change a little to make the scooter rally site once again the main focus. To begin with, organisers the VFM* Scooter Collective are no longer using the Ice Stadium as their centre of entertainment for Scooterists. The VFM tell us they feel it’s time for a bit of a change. The focus will instead be upon Smallbrook Speedway stadium in creating a huge central hub for the Rally on the Island. There they are opening up a large exhibition hall which will accommodate the International Scooter Show, tying in perfectly with the enormous Parts Fair which is already situated in the Stadium. This will be complimented by a large marquee to host all sorts of entertainment in the daytime, such as live music, weird cabaret etc. There will also be more focus on interactive displays, hopefully involving some of our national clubs and rally organisers.

VFM also say that even though the standard of catering has improved on site in recent years, they hope to provide even more variety for 2014. Evening entertainment will be on site over three different venues including extra bars and the huge exhibition hall with guest DJs from all over the UK, quality live bands and a variety of music with, as per usual a dedicated Soul Zone.

For those not camping on the site, buses will be running day and night from Ryde, for those in digs. For those wishing to camp at Smallbrook, they will receive a weekend pass which will give unlimited access to the whole site. The camping areas have been extended and VFM are working with Smallbrook to ensure that all the facilities provided will be at their best. For those many thousand coming in for the day, especially Saturday, they should notice a huge difference with lots more to see and do. Separate evening tickets will be on sale per usual, and possibly a weekend pass which does not include camping.

The scooter rideout will remain the same, departing from Ryde seafront on the Sunday per usual, with perhaps a different destination this year, which would be nice!
